Here is a classic case of better late than never. It took me a good two years to finally catch an American Princes show after a friend turned me onto their last album Less And Less at SXSW 2006. And even then it happened purely by chance as the band just happened to have a Monday night residency at the Hi-Tone while we were staying in midtown Memphis last month. Already a fan of their previously recorded output, the quintet's brand of power-pop (which by the way translates seamlessly to the stage) had me searching for a copy of their new album Other People almost immediately after the show.

More bombastic in its approach than the Princes previous albums, Other People is reported to have been described by the band as their "eighties album," which in an '80s 1st wave sense is perfectly plausible. Granted, that would be the '80s filtered through a healthy dose of '90s indie guitar rock, but hey, we here at AD love us some '90s indie guitar rock.
