Carol Bui: Everyone Wore White
![]()
Produced in its entirety at the legendary Inner Ear Studios (Fugazi, The Dismemberment Plan), “Everyone Wore White” is a product of an active collaboration between D.C.’s emotive post-punk songstress Carol Bui and Aloha’s TJ Lipple, who is also prominently featured on drums. Bolder and more raucous than anything you’ve heard by a female artist in recent years, “Everyone Wore White” is colored with scratchy strings that weep, agitated guitars that recall Steve Albini and Jeff Buckley, and a cathartic voice that sings of displaced spirituality, psychosis, and a bicultural coming-of-age.
