Heloise & the Savoir Faire to release "Trash, Rats and Microphones" on Simian Records, April 29
New York's electro-rock outfit Heloise & the Savoir Faire will release their new album Trash, Rats and Microphones on April 29 via Simian Records (Elijah Wood's new label and joint-venture with Yep Roc Records).
With a live show described by Disorder Magazine as a "great big flying disco ball swerving through a relentless shower of pink glitter and synth-lasers," Heloise & the Savoir Faire have gained popularity in the UK after making their TV debut on "The Graham Norton Show." An electrified collision of late-70's disco-infused dance punk and 80's synth-pop, the group is fronted by the charismatic Heloise Williams and backed by two dancers (Joe Shepard and Sara Sweet Rabidoux) and full band (James Bellizia on guitar, Luke Hughett on drums and Jason Diamond on bass). Self-produced by the band at Translator Audio in Brooklyn with Andrew Schneider, who also engineered the record, Trash, Rats and Microphones captures the energy, sexuality and humor of the live show. On the underground hit, "Odyle," Heloise lampoons New Age aphorisms, while "On Fuego" paints a vivid picture of a fiesta out of bounds, equal parts wet T-shirt contest and Mexican hat dance. The giddy opener "Illusions" mixes funky bass, bongos and a pumping beat to push the excitement meter into the red. Heloise even flips effortlessly from erotic whisper to full-throttle wail, then back again against the mechanized handclaps and squelching low-end of "Datsun 280Z." The album also features guest vocals by Debbie Harry of Blondie fame who recently called Heloise & the Savoir Faire one of her favorite underground bands in The New York Times Style Magazine. Harry is featured on "Canadian Changs" and the lean and sinewy "Downtown." When asked about her collaboration with Harry, Heloise says, "I still can't believe it happened. She came to a show in New York and that's when we were introduced. We began hanging out on a social level and talking about writing together for her new CD. Unfortunately that never happened, but when I went into the studio, I asked if she would be a guest vocalist. She was amazing and really sex-kittened up the songs!" Heloise & the Savoir Faire look like a million bucks and have boundless fun on stage. From New York, London to Los Angeles, they continue making new friends and fans wherever they go with their new album Trash, Rats and Microphones, and live show that is tailored to electrify a wide variety of music fans.
