Heloise talks about her style in today's edition of the New York Post

Heloise Williams fronts Heloise & the Savoir Faire, a Brooklyn-based electro-rock band (a la Goldfrapp, Scissor Sisters). Their new release, Trash, Rats and Microphones, on Elijah Wood's record label features collaboration with Debbie Harry and drops tomorrow. But by day she'll be working the Manhattan Vintage Show - as a buyer for vintage clothing dealer Passement.

Describe your style
"For a while Aileen Wournos was my style icon. I know that sounds a little sick and I'm totally against murder, but there is something empowering about wearing a giant acid-washed T-shirt with FLORIDA emblazoned across your chest. Of course now acid wash is making a comeback, so it's not as off-putting. At the moment I'm more of a 'Golden Girls' gal. I enjoy wearing brightly colored dresses."

Where do you shop?
"Besides Salvation Army and Goodwill, no place really."

Favorite designer or stores?
"My friend Todd Thomas is an amazing designer. He has helped to create costumes for our shows, which have been great. He made us Tootsie Roll berets and he's making my wedding dress! And oddly, I like Narciso Rodriguez a lot because of the way he cuts his clothes. I say oddly because I usually don't wear things that are terribly form-fitting. Although I did try on a Halston that we just picked up and - man!- did that hug me in all the right places. It felt great. Other than that I love vintage (of course). Leonard because of his prints. I love vintage YSL. It's chic, well-made and relatively well-priced. Vivienne Westwood. She's punk with a love of structure. And Geoffrey Beene. He's unexpected, has a sense of humor and, again, he knows how to cut clothes. I'd love to wear the Balenciaga collection or the new Balmain. That stuff is incredible. I love the fringe."

Style icons?
"Debbie Harry of course. Tina Turner always but particularly the 'Beyond the Thunderdome' look. I love me some science fiction, so I will also say 'Barbarella.' Miss Piggy from 'Pigs in Space.' I was also into Paula Poundstone for a bit...not sure what that's about exactly..."
